Large parts of the "Hell Awaits" cover, if not all of it, was taken from the "Heavy Metal" illustration magazine issue number 4 from July 1977. The illustrations were featured in a story called "Approaching Centauri".
The exact story behind this remains unknown, did the artist Albert Cueller (who designed the "Hell Awaits" cover) think that no one would notice? But see for yourself: |
The album was re-released in 2009 as a "splatter vinyl" limited edition (1000 units) by Metal Blade Records (see below). The working title for the Hell Awaits album was "Uranium 235". Some old CD releases from "Music for Nations" feature "Haunting The Chapel" & "Captor Of Sin" as bonus tracks.

"Music For Nations" issued a gatefold version with a poster, check it out here. Click here for a picture of the "splatter vinyl" version. Click here for a picture of a limited picture disc version! Click here for a picture of a CD version in a elastic plastic case! |
