Security was so scared that something would happen, that they had a wall of
NYC's finest standing shoulder to shoulder across the stage before the band
came out. This had the effect of royally pissing off the fans, and then
someone whizzed a shoe and BAM nailed a cop right in the head!!
The cops thought about breaking up the crowd and canceling the show, and the fans responded by tearing out the foam from the seats (and then the seats!) and hucking anything they could get their hands on at the stage. Eventually, Slayer came out and told us that if we didn't mellow out, they wouldn't be allowed to play. After a while, they came out and played one of the best shows (outside of a L'AMOUR show) I've ever seen. The pit was so fierce that night that everyone who was in it left bleeding and battered. During Chemical Warfare it became so frenzied that the entire floor area was engulfed. I don't I think they were never allowed to play there again! |
