Once again, Slayer fails to let me down! Messugah and Sick of it All were all
right, but they weren't that important to me, knowing that before long I was
going to get to see Slayer........AGAIN! The audience was very enthusiastic,
even though I didn't see any thing get destroyed. Everybody was chanting
"SLAYER! SLAYER!" Before the opening bands even came out!
There were plenty of nice girls flashing everyone to keep everyone occupied during what must have been at least a 45 minute wait for Slayer to come out. But, just as I was starting to grow a beard, the lights finally hit. There was this cool little beat that sounded a little weird to be drums, that went along with some lights that flickered every couple of seconds. Then, suddenly the high hat hits twice and the "Bitter Peace" intro starts up, just like when I saw them last summer! They played all of the songs that they usually play, but they had a couple of nice surprises, such as "Born of Fire", and "Criminally Insane". They actually did "Mandatory Suicide" and "Angel of Death" before the encore. When they left the stage after "Angel of Death", I figured that they were most likely going to play "South of Heaven" and "Chemical Warfare" for the encore, because what knid of a show would it be if they didn't play those? It would be like pretzels without beer, or pizza without sauce! And I was right. I took the pleasure of meeting Jeff and Kerry (again) before the show, and Tom and Paul afterwards. I gave a cool painting to Kerry which he put in the front window of their bus. So for those of you who are going to see Slayer soon, look for it. It has the old logo in the middle, with a demon head on each side biting down on the circle. |
