Date City Venue Country
June 15th 2000 Nottingham Rock City UK
Review
Well I have seen Slayer many times but today was something special. I decided to go earlier to the gig than I normally would, taking a day off work, my girlfriend and I hung around the back of the venue for a while hoping to catch a glimpse of Slayer but their was no sight of them. So about an hour before the doors opened we decided to queue up, at this time their was only my girlfriend and I there. About ten minutes later I couldn't believe my eyes Tom and Jeff walked up the steps into the front of the venue, I went accross to them and shook their hands, totally fuckin cool they were as well.

Anyway on to the gig. I've seen Slayer 8 times in the last 14 years and I have to say I've never seen them play better and that includes 2 dates on the uncomparable Reign In Pain Tour of '87. The precision and the power had to be seen to be believed. The main reason for this for has to be the drummer, back on those dates of '87 Dave Lombardo was at his peak nailing everything down with inhuman speed and precision, however after that he started to slip for whatever reason (and I've read plenty). However Paul Bostaph has come in and performed perfectly in the 2 dates that I've seen him (including a faultless end to Angel of Death) which seemed beyond Dave in later years.

The quality of the sound was also spot on, everything was crystal clear. All I can say is nobody but nobody does it better than Slayer, I've heard and seen a lot of the new bands out these days and they're not even in the same league as these guys.
