A great weekend was ahead of me, some friends and me left our area in the
beautiful Sachsen (East of Germany) to get totally rocked. The "With Full
Force Festival" should be our destination and contained many great bands such
as Sodom or Iron Maiden, only to name a few.
As we arrived we got a bad feeling because the Festival area was secured by many many evil looking security people (Evil has no boundaries? hehe...). The first day would bring us Iron Maiden and they made our heads bang. The second day was only something for hardcore fans, bands like Agnostic Front and Biohazard only made me yawn. Anyway, sunday came and the all-mighty Slayer would be on stage this day. Already in the night and on the days before you could hear people screaming Slayer out of some tents. You could really feel how Slayer paralyized the people before their show. But something was wrong, I had the strange feeling that I was the only one that day who wasn't drunk, because I wanted to see Slayer's devastating show with a clear head and keep it in good memories. Machine Head were on stage before Slayer. MH was totally hyped by the organisators of the festival, I was never a fan of the band. It was also said that Slayer would have a hard time to get on after Machine Head ... no comment. Machine Head's show was one of the most bad live-gigs I've ever seen. After MH left the stage, Paul Bostaph's big drumkit was rolled onto the stage. After that about 20 Marshall Speakers were pulled onto the stage and Kerry's and Jeff's guitars were tested by the technicans. Finally the moment came, Slayer entered the stage and rushed straight into War Ensemble. The banging heads of Jeff and Tom made the moshpit explode, Kerry was standing there with a evil look on his face and played his red BC Rich perfectly. Yeah, this was Slayer, perfectly in sound and posing, nobody does it better! This was what I had expected, faster, harder, SLAYER! After a short break the fog on stage was becoming red and Paul Bostaph started the intro for the allmighty Raining Blood. The crowd was going insane, you simply can't describe it but this song is like a fucking earthquake live! After the show I couldn't move my head anymore, it was horrible! But anyway, Tom said "Gute Nacht" (Good night) nicely, Kerry and Jeff threw their picks into the crowd and Paul did the same with his sticks. There's only one thing left to say, SLAYER KICKS ASS!!! |
