June 29th 2000 Hannover Capitol Germany
Review
We left home several hours before the show to go on our 300km trip to Hannover. I've been looking forward to this evening several weeks in advance and of course I wasn't disappointed. We arrived about 90 minutes before the doors openend and a few minutes later Tom Araya walked by us which got me even more excited.

The first band was "Harmful" from Germany who played Helmet-like music. At that point not many people where in the Capitol and the band was pretty much ignored although they were better than the band which came on next: Rising Down. These guys were so ridiculous. A thirdclass Korn-copy. I was very surprised that they got a pretty good reaction from the crowd which at that point started pouring into the Capitol.

At the end of the Rising Down show, the place was packed and "Slayer, Slayer" chants brought the excitement to a maximum. Then the Black Sabbath version of "Hand Of Doom" was played followed by the Slayer version of that song. Finally the lights went out and Slayer entered the stage and opened with 'War Ensemble'. After reading other reviews on Slayerized I thought 'War Ensemble' wouldn't be the best song to open with. I was very wrong! The place exploded and a large moshpit formed.

Kerry again wore his oldschool armband and Jeff wore strange kneepads. Then Tom asked 'Can you say eeeeeevil' and they played 'Evil Has No Boundaries' followed by a massive version of 'Hell Awaits'. Then came 'Bitter Peace' and 'Death's Head' which are much better live than on CD. 'Here Comes The Pain' is live also surprisingly good. Definitely the largest moshpit erupted during 'Raining Blood' which was is in my opinion the best song. Awesome!

The regular set ended with 'Mandatory Suicide', 'Postmortem' and the megatrack 'Chemical Warfare'. After a few minutes of darkness the opening riff of 'South Of Heaven' began and Slayer were back for two more songs. 'Angel Of Death' was perfect as the song to be played last. All along the show the whole crowd sang along and more than one time I couldn't believe I was wittnessing all of this. After 90 minutes the concert was over. I never wanted a band to come back to perform more songs so much than that evening. Fortunately my brother caught one of Paul's drumsticks and so we went home happy knowing we would see them again a day later in Hamburg.
