June 30th 2000 Hamburg Docks Germany
Review
After the Hannover show the day before we only had short night before we had to make our way to the Docks in Hamburg. This time a good number of people were waiting for the doors to open. Again the two bands "Harmful" and "Rising Down" opened and the reactions were the same as in Hannover. Not many people paid attention to Harmful and Rising Down were accepted pretty well. I had a good laugh when a few CD's Rising Down threw into the crowd were thrown back at them.

Thirty minutes after Rising Down the Black Sabbath and Slayer versions of 'Hand Of Doom' were played before the lights went out and Slayer opened with 'War Ensemble'. Kerry wore the spiked armband but this time Jeff was without the kneepads. The place went nuts and the atmosphere was even greater than in Hannover. 'Hell Awaits' was very intense and is one of the best songs Slayer have.

Before 'Necrophiliac' Tom told a sick story about fucking dead women which was pretty amusing. 'Stain Of Mind' was pretty good but nothing compared to what happened when the first note of 'Raining Blood' was played. The place began to boil and at the largest moshpit of the evening erupted. It was great to hear the crowd sing along all the songs. Several fans even brought their Slayer flags. Another highlight of the show was 'Dead Skin Mask' which was pretty intense together with the excellent lightshow.

The regular set finished with 'Chemical Warfare' and Tom screamed "Arschloch" (which is german and means "Asshole") where he usually screams "fuck it up" which I think was very cool. I was hoping that they would play 'Seasons In The Abyss' or one or two tracks from Divine Intervention but unfortunately the setlist was the same as the night before.

After a few moments Slayer were back to play two eagerly anticipated encores. 'South Of Heaven' and the obligatory 'Angel Of Death' cost everyone their last energy reserves. After 90 minutes a great show was over. The band threw lots of stuff into the audience and the very charismatic Tom Araya took some time to shake hands with the people in the front row. I can't wait to see Slayer again at the Metal 2000 Festival.
