In all the performances Slayer have ever done this one would have to be their most angry for today Slayer were out for blood.

Recent interviews in the European press had speculated harsh words passing back and forth from Slayer and the festival's headliners, Metallica. Not only that but Slayer were pissed off about being below Skid Row and Irish punkers Therapy.

Slayer burst onto the stage with "Chemical Warfare", a strange opener but all the drunks screaming "SLAYER! SLAYER! SLAYER!" were satisfied and the chants kept on as Tom Araya told the crowd they weren't on long and introducing "Mandatory Suicide".

The band were fast, flawless and so fired up they were absolutely the best band of the day - barely pausing for breath. The members of Skid Row, White Zombie and Machine Head stood in awe watching Paul Bostaph's feet.

By the end of "Angel Of Death", time was already up. But Slayer had done their work - the crowd were exhausted but still chanting. Slayer had played possibly their most epic set overcoming their long-time enemies Metallica and dragging thrash metal kicking and screaming into the 1990's.
