A friend and I went it was awsome! To say the least. It was the first time my
friend had ever seen Slayer. But to get to the good stuff. Morbid Angel was
extremely good. They kicked some major ass! Scrape they sucked. They should
have been on tour with someone like Clutch or some shit. Static X was really
good they shocked me.
And then the almighty Slayer appeared. I have been going to Slayer concerts for over ten years. I have never seen them play a set quite like this one. First they start with Raining Blood and then go into Chemical Warfare. It was like it was over before they started. After Chemical Warfare Tom Araya looked as if he was going to barf. He retreated to the drum riser, looking away from the crowd for awhile, turned and with a pail face walks to the mic and says, thank you and goes on to introduce Disciple and that the new album would in fact be out in late August. And then it was on! They started the song and everybody there kind of stood in there places for about 1 second and then the place went nuts. I beleive that Desciple is one of the best songs they have done in quite sometime. Maybe as far back as something off of Seasons, like War Ensemble. Slayer went on to play Stain of Mind, Dead Skin Mask, BloodLine, Seasons in the Abyss, South of Heaven and Angel of Death. The set was really short. I felt that Static X was on way too long. It was a Slayer crowd all the way. I was about 8 people back from the front right of the stage and behind me looked like the whole floor was a mosh pit. Bodies were flying everywhere. Pantera then came out. Yeah they had all the stage shit but they didn't have near the aggressive crowd as did Slayer. Nobody even started a mosh pit when they were playing. About the fourth song into it was God Damn Electric. It sounded good and towards the end of the song the almighty pitbull of thrash Kerry King came on the stage and played some of the lead. When K.K. came out the place went nuts again. For anyone that has worried that Slayer has lost it because of the last album, have no fear because if the rest of the new album sounds anything like Desciple our worries are over. |
