Review
I got there about 20 minutes late just to find out that Morbid Angel had opened the concert. That was suprising to me because I thought the order would go: Scrape, Static-X, Morbid Angel, Slayer, Pantera. So I missed the 2nd best band there. After MB kicked some ass, Scrape came on. I dont think they belong in this tour because of their music style. They're more of a heavier Godsmack than anything. Some people liked them though. Static-X was next, and since the bass player broke his collar bone a few weeks ago, a friend of the band was on bass, and then there was the real bass player, with a brace on his arm, jumping around on stage and doing backup vocals. After they were done playing every E rythm pattern known to man. the curtain came down.

The crowd began chanting "Slayer" for about a minute. Then we waited another 20. But the curtain came down, and the feedback started, with all 24 Marshall cabs. Paul pounded on the drums for the intro to Raining Blood and the place went nuts. I snuck over to the side to get closer to the stage, but all I did there was headbang. My neck hurts. Anyways... The crowd sang along with some of the songs (Dead Skin, War, Seasons, Blood, Heaven, Angel) sometimes louder than Tom. I was suprised at their set order because Raining Blood and Chemical Warfare were at the beginning. The show was loud as hell. No sound problems, no PA popping, and Paul missed only one bass-cymbal combination on Bloodline. When they were done, I went with a friend to buy a T-shirt, and a stretcher was being wheeled around with no victim in it yet...

After Slayer was done, about 30 minutes went by until Pantera came on. And they had more fire then I've seen (I could feel the heat of the torches from the back of the arena). But I used all my energy on Slayer's show so I just sat down, until Kerry came out and played the solo on God Damn Electric, and then came out later on for the song "Fucking Hostile". Phil bashed on the other 2 bands while he was drunk: "Skrape and Static-X, you guys should join our side in metal so people will like you, Slayer and Morbid Angel.... you guys just keep doing what your doing." I didn't think that was right. I sat through Pantera's whole set, yawning at times. It was boring because their set was too long (2 hours). Slayer kicked Pantera's ass at the show... by a lot, and Slayer should have headlined... maybe next time....
