Review
On July 17th I saw the "Extreme Steel Tour" at the Americanwest Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. Personally I was pissed of about this tour because I think that Slayer MUST be the last band on stage. Ok, I know that Pantera have sold more cd than Slayer but....Slayer are Slayer goddamit!!!!! I saw Pantera 5 times and I know that their performance it's always a "question mark" because often the singer Phil Anselmo it's so fuckin drunk that their performance can become really fucked up. The concert started with Morbid Angel and they played a good show. Then Skrape, another new metal band with nothing new to say. After them the Static-X took the stage. They sounds much better live than in studio.

The crowd appreciate a lot their set, but after 30 minutes of their set the people started to scream "SLAYER SLAYER SLAYER!!!" At 8:30 pm Slayer hit the stage....Paul Bostaph's drums started to play the "inconfondibile" intro of.........RAINING BLOOD!!!!!! The crowd went nuts, there were about 4-5 mosh-pits in the arena....the impact was terrific!!! After that "Chemical Warfare" and one song from the new album "God hates us all".....the song was "Disciples" and it was fuckin' awesome! I really like it. I hope the new album will have the same intensity and power of this song! I moved really close to the stage on the right side....the Kerry King's one (where I always go)...and I was in the 3rd row. There the sound was really fucked up! I couldn't hear the guitars and the voice was bad too. The problem was that the speakers were 5-6 meters above the crowd, something unusual....anyway they played the only song from Diabolus, the single "Stain of Mind".

I moved about 10 meters far from the stage and there the sound was incredibly loud!!! Then they played "War Ensemble". The band was in a great shape and they were as usual a War Machine!!!! Tom Araya played a couple of songs with the red light on his face as in the Divine Intervention Tour.

Later they played "bloodline" from the "Dracula 2000" soundtrack, it was pretty fuckin' cool too.... and after that came the best part of the show..."Dead Skin Mask" and "Season in the abyss" played in a row and after a quick break "South of Heaven" and the final "Angel Of Death". The performance was fuckin' great, but unfortunately their set finished only after 45 minutes!!! That really suck!!! At least Slayer have to be co-headliners with Pantera and having the possibility of playing 90 minutes as well, instead of having Slayer just like special guests or having some shitty bands that nobody gives a fuck anyway!
