We got there at roughly 6:00pm and there was hardly any lineup at all. You can tell it was a Pantera crowd from the few that were around, Pantera shirts were everywhere but I counted only a few Slayer shirts outside the gates.

We went inside the Pacific Coleseum around 6:20 and found our seats after a little contreversy with the friskers. We got pretty good seats, row 3, just a little farther back and to the left of the stage with a good view.

I went and bought a 35 dollar Extreme Steel tour shirt with all the bands names on it. All of the Slayer shirts were SOLD OUT! Although I'm guessing they only had one whereas Pantera had about 6 or 7 different shirts.

Morbid Angel were NOT on the tour for some reason, I thought they were going to play first but the Skrape banners were already set up by the time we got in. They started at roughly 7PM, Skrape unfortunately sounded like another numetal band. I didn't like their screaming at all, but they were loud enough for me to overlook that. Next up was Static-X. I like some industrial so I thought they put on a good show.

Around 8:50 there started up the most exciting performance (imho) of the night..... SLAYER!!!!!! By this time the coleseum had filled up, and you could see that a lot of the people skipped Static-x and Skrape.

The familiar booming drums of "Raining Blood" filled the Coleseum, and immediately I set about attempting to give myself whiplast. After every single song the lights would go out, and after a few moments the lights would illuminate and spotlight Tom alone as he talked to the crowd. Very athmospheric, to say the least. He was damn courteous (compared to Phil from Pantera who I consider a loudmouth wanker), and introduced Disciple, Stain of Mind, Bloodline, War Ensemble, and Dead Skin Mask.

He thanked the crowd a couple times, and apparently there was some sort of preacher in the crowd, which he sort of repeated in shock. You could tell they didn't want to waste time so after short intros they got down to business: KICKING SOME ASS!

During Chemical Warfare a mob in our section decided to try and jump the barrier to get on the floor. It was raining bodies as people sprung from here and there trying to get to the floor. Some got there, some didn't. Needless to say, the security was very anal for the rest of the night.

Kerry and Jeff switched places a few times. I was thrashing about and headbanging mainly, but I didn't notice the pits. You could tell the crowd was into Slayer, even if there weren't that many Slayer fans, though I saw a lot more Slayer shirts after and during the show.

They played roughly 55 minutes. I say roughly because they finished their set with Angel of Death, but the Pantera guys came out with a tray of beers and Phil got the crowd into a Slayer chant and told them to come back and play Hell Awaits or At Dawn They Sleep. So they came out again for an encore and played Hell Awaits. It fucking ripped!

Slayer kicked my ass around the corner. The new songs sounded awesome live (I didn't think the MP3s sounded that great).

Pantera put on a good show, but I think Slayer did better, merely for the sake of a humble Tom. Pantera came out dressed as the "kings of metal" and every second word out of Phil's mouth was a variation of "fuck". While I have no problem with this normally, it does get old, silly, and annoying.

All and all it was a great show. Well worth the money spent, even if Morbid Angel wasn't there. I wasn't disappointed by Slayer's tourmates (though I wish Slayer headlined and had more time).
