First of all I have to say every Pantera show gets better. The show I saw
before last night was a show in Seattle where Kerry came out for the solo
for goddamn electric and Fucking Hostile, so I thought to my self it would
be a sweet concert but not as good as Seattle. I was wrong, soooo wrong.
Morbid Angel didn't play because they couldn't get over the border (Fuck Customs!!!!). Skrape sucked huge ass while Static-X sucked big ass. The crowd was chanting SLAYER SLAYER SLAYER while Static-X was only a little way through their set. After Static shit (who just do the slayer's song Death's Head over and over again with techno sounds)was done we sat unaware what was to come. The real first act intro music comes on (I think the music is Darkness of Christ from God Hates Us All?) and crowd was tense. Then Rainning Blood starts and Fucking chaos!!! So many people jump from the stands to the floor and the pit was huge and crazy (I've seen Cannibal Corpse and the pit wasn't even close too as intense as Slayers this night). Slayer did their usual set just a different order and after Angel of Death Phil comes out and says "This is Slayers last night on the tour so I want you to thank them." The crowd was cheering and the guys in Pantera were passing out drinks to guys from Slayer and everybody went off stage but phil and Tom. Their talking and Phil grabs Tom's head and shakes it then they get off stage. Then Tom comes back out and so do the rest of the guys from slayer and start playing. Phil ask them to play HELL AWAITS!!!!! Fucking unreal man. I love slayer and Pantera equally so I was stoked for Pantera but I thought Slayer stole the show, I thought no band could follow that, I was wrong again. Pantera kick so much ass some how after the sweetest shit ever that was Slayer. No one wasn't going insane for Pantera, no one. If we were in a outdoor arena the stage would have been set on fire thats how intense this crowd was and thats how much Phil controled the crowd. They filmed for the home video and we are on it. Most times when bands are going do encores they fucking wait for the crowd to get loud, fucking Pantera waited like four seconds to come back on to do Walk as their encore. I must sound like an ass talking about crowd so much but I thought it was going to be a pussy Canadian crowd, I was wrong again. Me and my friend waited after the show to see the guys from Slayer and Pantera go on their bus and shit, so we sat waited. About an half an hour had passed and the crowd of people were blocked off except me and my friend when Kerry comes out. He staid until he signed everything, he was putting down Anthrax, he was joking around with us, he is just such an awesome guy. We wait another fifteen minutes when Jeff comes out just absolutely hammered (Those Darrel brothers like everyone hammered and also it was Rex's birthday). He is the coolest guy on earth man. He staid sighned everything and he talked to a few of us for at least for an hour. I told him about how I dig the new album he was liked "Fuck everybody has already heard it and it ain't even out" and he laughed. I talked to him quite abit about how he liked Vancouver and he loves hockey and when the Canucks where in town he saw every game he could. He also said its ether been two years or two months since they did Hell Awaits. Best night of my life, I'm never going to forget this until the day I go to Hell. |
