Review
First off, SLAYER absolutely tore it up in what clearly was a Pantera crowd. The Pantera fans were loyal but they knew who the true kings were that night and it was cool to see. I caught the tale end of Static X and it was just plain gay. Each song sounded the same except for the samples they mixed in at the beginning, middle and end of each and every fucking song.

SLAYER opened up with Raining Blood and I have seen it performed with a better set up i.e lights down, strobe lightning etc. but it was still great! The minute the boys blasted their guitars, the place went ape shit and chaos was the rule. I was about 4 feet from the railing up front and it was cool to see them that close. They play with such amazing accuracy and grace it is truly a magnificent sight. Some one did some type of flying cart-wheel maneuver and I caught a boot squarely to the side of the face and that just seemed to make the show that much better. Bloodline was really, really crunchy and the crowd loved it. Disciple from the new album was tremendous. As I said, I was close to the stage and in that song I saw SLAYER use some cords that never seen them use before. Anyway, it sounded really good and makes me wish September came after July so I could get a copy of that new disc.

I would have to say by far the best song of the night was Dead Skin Mask. This night that song just seemed to crunch and flow so well, they sounded like they were strumming lightning bolts and dropping bombs. It was amazing that with such a Pantera crowd how many people sang along with so many of the SLAYER songs. Phil Anselmo came out during this song and in my opinion looked like a total jack ass. SLAYER was totally going off and he comes out and lights a bowl for Tom. Any other time that would have been cool but not during the middle of the show, during one of the best songs. His antics made Tom missed some lyrics and it just came off so bush league, so rookie. Phil looked like a punk trying to get in on what was clearly the best performance from the best band. I can't wait to see the real SLAYER tour. Many years ago I saw the old Metallica play before they turned gay. It was the tour for the black album which was lame but not as lame as this new shit. It was at the Forum in LA and it was just them for 3 hours. I want a SLAYER show like that!

So the final conclusion is that SLAYER totally kicked ass, even with an abbreviated set, they made it a memorable night. Their new album will kick ass and this show made me anxious for the new album and the Boxset! Morbid Angel is the best at what they do but the 2 middle bands smoked pole like a fag on a Saturday night. A band shouldn't make you angry that you have to listen to them. Pantera puts on a great show even if Phil Anselmo is a fuck head. If you had a band and you played a concert, this is what you would want your set to look like. A 4X5 stack of Marshalls on each side, a drum kit in the middle and everything surrounded by fire and steel. I took a friend this evening and this was his first SLAYER show and when it was over I asked him what he thought and his reply was, "When are they coming back? I am going!" That about sums it up!
