Review
SLAYER played tonite, an amazing show! I got there too late to see Lazy American Workers, I will take a wild-ass guess and say I didn't miss all that much. Arch Enemy was already onstage by the time I got there, so I only got to hear about four songs. They sounded great, Angela Gossow, their lead singer was great, I have seen them numerous times before, and have always loved seeing them, and tonite was not exception! Hatebreed was next, and I was less than impressed, I ahve never been a fan of hardcore, and tonite's show by Hatebreed did nothing to change my opinion of hardcore.

Then, in something that came as a shock, SLAYER got their set change done in relatively quick fashion, I was shocked, as through the years, their set changes have been infuriating to wait through. They opened their set much like they did on the God Hates You All tour, where they did the tape intro and launched into Disciple, then an awesome version of War Ensemble. From there, they played three classics, At Dawn They Sleep, Necrophiliac, and Chemical Warfare. From there, they played a shitload of songs, and for the last half of the concert, they played the Reign In Blood album in its entirety!

Sound was good, they played like they always do, the music was tight, Tom Araya's voice was in very good shape, being that I caught them so early in the tour. The real treat was finally getting to see Dave Lombardo behind the kit, as I had never seen him play before with Slayer. His playing was spot on, I know for a fact he nails the old material far better than Paul Bostaph ever did. Tom was fairly talkative throughout the night, making a few jokes between songs, and towards the end of the night, was very gracious to all the fans, saying thanks for 20 years, and that Slayer was nothing without its fans....very cool!

The order of the setlist may be fucked up, as I am still buzzing from the show, but I think I got all the songs... Hard to believe its been 20 years already for them, they definitely have aged better than other bands of their time ::cough::(metallica)::cough:: So, if this tour gets to your area, get to the fucking show! See Arch Enemy, as they kill, drink beer during Hatebreed, and worship at the altar of the almighty SLAYER!!
