# News #1
Slayer are rumored to have approached producer Matt Hyde (Monster Magnet) to helm their upcoming new album. The band plan on entering the recording with an eye on a summer release through their longtime label, American Recordings. # News #2 In other related news Slayer have found themselves a target of a lawsuit filed by the Pahler family who are suing the group, blaming their music and lyrics for the death of their 15 year old daughter who was murdered by three of her friends in 1995. The three convicted killers, Jacob Delashmutt, Joseph Fiorella and Royce Casey were avid fans of the group and believed that they needed to commit a "sacrifice to the devil" in order to give their then band Hatred, the "craziness" to "go professional". The suit was originally filed in 1996, but was put on hold until the trial for the three accused, who eventually pled guilty, was finished. The family claims songs like Postmortem and Dead Skin Mask gave the boys step-by-step instructions to "stalk, rape, torture, murder and commit acts of necrophilia" on their daughter. The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages from the band and its record labels and restrictions on the marketing of violent music to minors. A judge in California heard arguments on the whether the case should be dismissed due to the First Amendment on December 4th. |
