Gary Graff of Billboard.com recently conducted an interview with SLAYER guitarist Kerry King about the band's forthcoming album, "World Painted Blood", which is scheduled for release late summer via American Recordings/Columbia Records. Songtititles set to appear on the CD include "Psychopathy Red", "Beauty Through Order", "Unit 731", "Playing with Dolls", "Public Display of Dismemberment", "Americon" and the title track.

Slayer will headline the two Wacken Rocks festivals in Germany. The first one will be Wacken Rocks South in Kreuth near Munich on August 28th, the second one will be Wacken Rocks Seaside in Aurich near Hamburg on August 29th. Check out the Tourdates.

Slayer will film a videoclip for a yet unknown song from their upcoming album on July 27th. As a result of that the headlining show on that day in Columbus was cancelled. (Tourdates)

Slayer have been confirmed for this years Loudpark Festival in Japan. The festival takes place on October 17-18th at Makuhari Messe near Tokyo. Other bands on the bill are Judas Priest and Megadeth. Check out the Tourdates page.

Headline show added

Slayer have added a headliner show during the Rockstar Mayhem Festival tour. This show will take place on July 27th in Columbus, OH. Check out the Tourdates page. Show has been cancelled!

The new Slayer album will be entitled World Painted Blood and will be released in the late summer. World Painted Blood was produced by Greg Fidelmann who also produced "Death Magnetic" by Metallica. The album will feature "Psychopathy Red", a song Slayer already played last year on their Unholy Alliance III tour.

In other news Anamaria Araya, Tom Araya's 55 year old sister died due to cancer on June 1st.

Kerry King recently spoke to Blabbermouth about the upcoming album. According to King the album will be alot like Seasons in the abyss. Read the full interview here.

Tom Araya video message

Tom Araya recently released a video message for the "national day of Slayer" (www.nationaldayofslayer.org).

The new Slayer album won't see a July release as reported earlier. It is highly likely that the album won't be released this summer. As it's always been with previous releases, they get delayed and so on.

Obviously the new, yet untitled Slayer album will be released on July 7th 2009 in the US, that would be right in time for the Mayhem Festival Tour (Tourdates). A July 7th release date in the US would probably mean an release date in europe a few days earlier, maybe around July 3rd. I'll keep you updated!

Remember the "National day of Slayer" on June 6th 2006? Well they're back with the "International day of Slayer" and it takes place on June 6th 2009. Check out their website at www.nationaldayofslayer.org.

In a recent interview RollingStone.com has revealed that the new, yet untitled Slayer album will contain 11 songs. Lyrics are still to be written, the band has been in the studio for 5 weeks only. The album is expected to be released this July, Slayer fans know that this could mean October or later haha.

Tom Araya was interviewed at this years Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards on April 7th in Los Angeles. Tom Araya and Kerry King presented the "Best Live Band" award to Slipknot. Check out the interview here.

The band has recently been interviewed by Filter magazine, discussing all their albums and the Slayer history. Check out the seven-part interview:

"Psychopathy Red" will be released as a 7" single as a part of the third annual Record Store Day. Only 5.000 of those singles will be available, they'll be exclusively sold at participating record stores. Check out www.recordstoreday.com for a full list of stores. The 7" red vinyl single will be packaged in a special Russian evidence envelope as the song was inspired by Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo (The Rostov Ripper) who murdered 56 children.

Tom Araya recently spoke to "Artisan News Service" about the upcoming album.

"This new album is coming together really well," he said. "We've been in the studio now for four weeks. I think four or five weeks and it's coming across together, you know it has all the SLAYER elements. I don't want to compare it to but it has very 'Christ Illusion'-type songs. You know, it's in that vein but there's also fast songs, l mean, [the recently released song] 'Psycopathy Red' — that right there should give you an example of the broad spectrum of SLAYER music is going to be on this album."

Kerry King recently said in an interview with german Metal Hammer that he already has a name for the yet untitled album which will be due in summer 2009. He also said he already has seven song titles which he still has to write the music to. The band will enter the studio again on February 1st 2009, which will make the release in summer 2009 a little bit unlikely, but let's see. Check out the full interview here.

Kerry King wants to release more albums

Responding to rumours that the band had only one more album to release before splitting, Kerry King explained to Quietus editor John Doran: "We're talking of going in the studio next February and getting the next record out so if we do things in a timely manner I don't see there's any reason why we can't have more than one album out. So if we do get a record out next year - and everything's pointing to yes - before the summer time when we tour that I'd want to start working on another one because we're all having a good time.

"I think the time's gonna come when somebody just says: 'I'm done. I don't wanna do this any more.' Because we've been doing it more than half of our lives. [starts laughing] But I'm having a blast!"

The Unholy Alliance III

The european tour started yesterday! If you went to a show, don't hesitate to write a review and send it to us at Slayerized@web.de.

Slayer spent some weeks in a recording studio in late September/early October to record three new songs for their new album which will be released spring/summer 2009. One of the songs is called "Psychopathy Red", a Jeff Hanneman track which gives you a look into the mind of Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. You can listen to a clip of the song at Spin.com.

It has been reported that Slayer will perform the complete Reign in Blood album in Belgium on November 12th. That makes it 4 shows now. Check out the Tourdates for detailed information.

"Reign in Blood" in its entirety Pt. II

As reported by Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet", Slayer will perform the complete "Reign in Blood" album on these shows in November:

Including the London show on October 30th there will be 3 shows now where "Reign in Blood" will be played completely.

Slayer will reportedly perform "Reign In Blood" in its entirety on October 30th at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, UK during the band's "The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" European tour. The following night's performance at the same venue will feature a different set and will apparently be filmed for an upcoming DVD. [ Complete tourdates ]

A brand-new Slayer album is expected in 2009, but some fans won't have to wait that long to get an early listen to some of the new music.

Fans who attend any of the upcoming European Unholy Alliance III (Tourdates) dates, will receive the new Slayer song via an exclusive download card that will also include special material from the entire tour's lineup — SLAYER, MASTODON, TRIVIUM and AMON AMARTH. The download card, along with a limited edition "Unholy Alliance Tour" clothing patch, will be given away free only to ticket holders when they arrive at their local venue the night of the show.

The new Slayer song is being recorded as you read this, as Slayer has just entered a Los Angeles-area studio to begin recording the new album.

Kerry King will be Bruce Dickinson's guest on his weekly radio show called "The Bruce Dickinson Friday Rock Show" on Friday October 3rd. You can listen to the show via Internet between 9.00pm and 12.00am (midnight) UK time right here.

Kerry King recently said that the new, yet untitled, Slayer album might see a late 2008 release. Longtime fans of the band know what that usually means (add some months to that ... haha). He said the he and Jeff Hanneman have some pretty cool ideas and concepts for the album. It also could be that some new songs will be released via iTunes in advance so that the fans have something new to hear for Slayers Unholy Alliance III tour.

Slayer are currently planning the 3rd leg of their "Unholy Alliance" tour, this will lead them once again into european concert halls this autmn. Dates confirmed so far can be found in the Tourdates section.

Old news by now, and something to give a shit about but Slayer won the grammy for "best metal performance" with their song "The final six" which was featured on the re-released edition of "Christ illusion".

Jere Lehtinen meets Slayer

October 30 will see the release of the "Unholy Alliance" DVD, which covers the tour featuring Slayer, Lamb of god, Mastodon, Children of bodom and Thine eyes bleed which took place in 2006. The DVD will be released via american records and was filmed on July 13th 2006 at General Motors Place in Vancouver/Canada. It will feature performances by all bands plus backstage action and interviews.

MetalKult.com has posted live videos from a 1985 performance by SLAYER. The videos were shot on April 3, 1985 at Studio 54 in New York City during the Combat Tour Live, which also included VENOM and EXODUS (the show was recorded/filmed and later released as part of the "Ultimate Revenge" video on the Combat label).

These classic clips show SLAYER thrashing through "Die by the Sword", "The Antichrist", "Hell Awaits" and "Chemical Warfare". Also included from that show is a backstage interview with SLAYER.

Slayer fan dies at at swedish show

A 22-year-old man who jumped off a bridge during SLAYER's headlining show at the Metaltown festival in Gothenburg, Sweden died at a local hospital late Sunday night, reports GT. When paramedics found him unconscious after almost 15 minutes in the water, he was bleeding from his nose, mouth and ears.

The Göta Älv bridge (photo), which runs over the river of the same name, is located just opposite the Metaltown main stage and a lot of people stood on the bridge and watched the festival performances from a distance.

SLAYER was about an hour into its show Saturday night (June 30) when the 22-year-old man and a friend stripped down to their underwear. As the crowd cheered on, the two counted down and were about to jump off when one of them decided not to go through with the "joke" and watched as his friend hurled himself from the 30-meter-high bridge. When the jumper didn't resurface, his friend screamed for someone to call the emergency number 112. The jumper was later found unconcious in the water and medical personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him. He was rushed to the emergency room where he died Sunday.

Slayer will release a new version of "Christ Illusion" on July 24th 2007, the limited edition set will contain "The Final Six", a song which didn't make it onto the album because of Tom Araya's gall-bladder surgery back in 2006.

The other song will be a alternate version of "Black Serenade", which is said to be the version that Jeff Hanneman originally wrote.

The first tourdates for Slayer's US summer tour 2007 have surfaced and are available in the Tourdates section. The tour is planned to start on July 25th on the east coast and to end in early September on the west coast.

SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON have announced that they will co-headline a North American major-market summer tour beginning on July 25 on the East Coast. Plans are for the tour to play some twenty-five cities and wrap up early September on the West Coast. A full, confirmed schedule will be announced shortly. MANSON and SLAYER will each play full sets, and two support bands, yet to be determined, will open all shows.

Kerry King will apear on the "Musikmesse" in Frankfurt/Germany which takes place from March 28th to March 31st. He will be at Hall 4.2 E12 from Wednesday (March 28th) till Saturday (March 31st) to present his "Kerry King Signature V".

Slayer wins readers polls

Having won their first-ever Grammy Award last month — "Best Metal Performance" for the track "Eyes of the Insane" — thrash icons SLAYER have just picked up a handful of even more awards, and these are from the fans.

Revolver magazine's 2007 "Readers' Poll" singled out SLAYER's Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman as "Best Guitarist/Guitar Team," and also named Dave Lombardo as "Best Drummer." SLAYER also placed Top 5 in the categories "Best Band Ever," "Best Live Band," "Album of the Year" (for "Christ Illusion"), and Band of the Year."

In its brand new issue, Spin's 2006 Readers Poll named SLAYER the "Best Live Band," coming in ahead of PANIC! AT THE DISCO and THE KILLERS.

Kerry King on winning a grammy

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King recently told Sean Piccoli of Sun-Sentinel.com that the group's song "Eyes of the Insane" — for which it recently won a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category — is "one of the poorest representations of us on the record," meaning SLAYER's 11th studio album, "Christ Illusion". He would have picked "Jihad" — like "Eyes", a track written by singer-bassist Tom Araya and guitarist Jeff Hanneman.

King also has doubts about how well members of the Grammys' parent organization, the Recording Academy, know his band's music.

"Realistically, I think people on the academy who vote pick the household name," he said. "And that's what we are."

SLAYER was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 49th annual Grammy Awards, which were held February 11 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Tom Araya talks about his kids

SLAYER frontman Tom Araya recently told Dan Nailen of The Salt Lake Tribune that his two kids ages 7 and 10, both veterans of SLAYER tours, love videos with lots of music, so Araya and his wife Sandra have a collection that includes the best-selling tween flick and other movies that are pretty much the polar opposite of where SLAYER's fans reside.

"You know that movie 'Footloose'?" Araya asked in an interview from his Texas home. "My wife played them the movie because they like the singing and dancing. So we bought the movie and we hit it. They like the dancing. They like the guy. They sit and sing the songs. They do that with 'High School Musical', too."

A pause in the conversation follows while Araya's son bends his ear.

"I was just informed that Tommy, my son, doesn't like that one," Araya added. "That makes me feel a little better."

Considering SLAYER has been around more than two decades now, it's no surprise its fan base is multigenerational. Araya loves seeing fathers with their kids at SLAYER shows, and he can relate since his own kids have been catching metal shows for nearly as long as they've been alive.

"Our kids enjoy all kinds of music, and they enjoy all kinds of live music," Araya said. "I think it's kind of cool to expose them at such a young age. My first concert, I was, like, 17."

Last year, Araya's kids joined the band on the "Unholy Alliance" tour after the new album's release, and he said the experience is something they won't soon forget. Besides crisscrossing the country, they got to hang with the other bands on the tour.

"They dug it, it was a good experience for them," Araya said. "Tommy hung out with the LAMB OF GOD guys. It was really neat to see how some of these other people were relating to our kids.

"[Touring] makes them more well-rounded. We live in a small town, and now when they go to school, to know the experiences they've had compared to the other kids, they really had their eyes opened."

The sold-out SLAYER concert scheduled for February 17 at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, New Jersey has been cancelled due to "venue production issues," according to the group's publicist. Due to that another show has been announced on February 18th in Norfolk, Virginia. Check out the Tourdates.

A video clip of SLAYER performing the song "Eyes of the Insane" on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Friday night (January 19) has been posted online at YouTube.com.

Blender.com has posted a three-minute video of SLAYER paying a visit, on November 8, 2006, to the 52nd Services Squadron, located on the Spangdahlem U.S. Air Force Base in Germany. The band, whose latest release, "Christ Illusion", deals with the brutality of war and religions fanaticism, scrutinizing America's role in Iraq and Afghanistan, spent a couple of hours meeting and chatting with the soldiers, signing autographs, and viewing a fighter aircraft or two. This was the group's first-ever visit to a military base. Watch the clip at this location.

Los Angeles thrash titans SLAYER will appear on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Friday, January 19. According to a MySpace bulletin, SLAYER is looking for "die-hard" fans to be part of the "Kimmel" mini-concert. The band will play between three and five songs (including their Grammy-nominated track "Eyes of the Insane") for the lucky fans (NOTE: only one song will actually be aired).
